UCP Government House Leader Joseph Schow has provided details of the agenda for the fourth session of the 30th legislature..The Alberta legislature will reconvene on Nov. 29 with a slate of legislation geared to addressing the inflation crisis and standing up for Alberta’s interests, said Schow..“This legislative session will set a new course for Alberta," Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said.."We will be taking active steps to defend and promote our province’s prosperity and constitutional jurisdiction. And we will take quick, effective action to assist vulnerable Albertans, seniors and families with the dramatic increases to their cost of living.”.Legislation will be introduced to protect Alberta’s constitutional jurisdiction; enable financial support to be provided to Alberta’s families, seniors and people with disabilities; improve the governance of policing in the province; and address long-standing issues in the justice system..Bill 1, 'Alberta Sovereignty within a United Canada Act' will also be introduced..“This fall session will feature a generational opportunity to protect Alberta like never before," Schow said.."And the targeted inflation relief and affordability measures will provide Albertans who are facing the inflation crisis with significant financial help. I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues on this legislative agenda and setting a strong path for our province’s future.”.With regards to Bill 1, Schow said, this legislation will enable Alberta's government to protect its border from federal laws, policies and practices that harm the province's economy or jurisdiction.."It will send a clear message that we will defend and promote our province's prosperity, and constitutional jurisdiction universality and will ensure our voice is heard so that you can freely contribute and participate in Confederation as proud Canadians without fear of unjust or unjustified federal intrusion into our lives," Schow said.."You will hear more about the details on the Alberta Sovereignty within a United Canada Act tomorrow when introduced in the Legislature.".The Alberta NDP also released its alternative speech from the throne on Monday.."We are at a pivotal moment in our province.
