A group of Alberta doctors is claiming that Alberta Health data shows a short-term spike in COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and deaths after vaccination for the virus..“There is a group that I’m a part of on Signal,” said Alberta family doctor Dr. Christy Reich, in reference to a group of doctors and medical specialists she collaborates and shares information with on the messaging platform..Reich says the group consists of both vaccinated and unvaccinated medical professionals..“I had posted the graphs from the Alberta government’s website on our Signal group and it raised a lot of questions in our group,” Reich said.. COVIDCOVID case rates after vaccination graph – Alberta.ca . COVID2COVID hospitalizations rates after vaccination graph – Alberta.ca . COVID3COVID deaths rates after vaccination graph – Alberta.ca .“We discussed the graphs and determined they were showing an initial spike in COVID cases, hospitalizations and deaths within the first two to three weeks of receiving the first dose of the (COVID-19) vaccination, ” said Reich..“After the second dose, you see a small initial increase in cases but then an elevation in cases again in two to six months.”.Reich said she compared notes with her colleagues in the messaging group and said they “all came to the same conclusion” regarding what the graphs were showing..An Alberta specialist within the group of medical doctors spoke with the Western Standard on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal or job loss..“The government’s own data seems to show us that vaccines are contributing to a rise in cases, hospitalizations and deaths,” said the specialist, after reviewing the graphs along with Reich..“We are also seeing other diseases and illnesses that have been in remission come back.”.“It’s hard to say why we are seeing this from the graph alone. It could be that the vaccine is decreasing people’s immune function and making them more predisposed to catching illnesses or fighting off conditions currently in remission. Or it could be possible that people aren’t being as careful once vaccinated,” said Reich..“It’s like the vaccine is causing immunosuppression. The body is expending so many resources fighting the spike protein (from the COVID-19 vaccine) that the body can’t hold off these other infections or diseases that were in remission,” added the specialist..The Western Standard reached out to Alberta Health for comment on the graphs and the assessments of the data from the doctors..“None of these claims are supported by scientific research or the global experience of COVID-19,” said Lisa Glover, assistant director at Alberta Health..“Vaccines have been shown to be highly effective with very few adverse events. Delaying or refusing vaccination carries serious risks. Those who are unvaccinated are more likely to become infected with COVID-19 or experience severe outcomes. The vast majority of Albertans currently in hospital or ICU due to COVID-19 are unvaccinated.
