The Calgary Police Service has started up rounding up people with COVID-19 who are refusing to isolate with the virus..The CPS is using certificates from the Alberta Health Services for the detentions..Arrested people are taken to hospital where they are put in isolation..“Another call has come in, this one unique to the pandemic,” Const. Chris Martin tweeted on Sunday..“A certificate has been issued by AHS directing us to apprehend a COVID positive person & bring them to a hospital because they refuse to self isolate..“These have become common for us & are difficult & hazardous for us.”.Martin is one of the Calgary police social media officers who tweet about their experiences..Calgary police spokeswoman Emma Poole said officers have detained 35 people since the start of April on AHS certificates..She said most of the cases are from Calgary’s vulnerable population. She said officers take the detainee to hospital where they are looked after and taken to COVID-19 housing locations..Alberta announced a record 1,584 cases of COVID-19 cases on Sunday..That figure is similars to ones announced recently in Ontario and Quebec, which have much larger populations..The province has had 46,872 coronavirus cases and 471 deaths..
