Calgary councillor Jeremy Farkas says one of his staffers ignored health recommendations and travelled during the pandemic lockdown.
And Farkas, who is also running for mayor, is hitting the staffer where it hurts – the pocket book.
“A junior administrative staff member on my office team recently traveled outside of Canada. As a consequence, I directed that they will be docked pay and not receive salary for vacation/quarantine,” Farkas tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
“While it is legal, Calgarian taxpayers should not be on the hook for my staff member to isolate. I stayed home for Christmas and did not see family. Regardless of others’ actions, I am responsible and accountable for my team. I am sorry.”
