Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the discovery of human remains northeast of Edmonton, now identified as a 25-year-old woman reported missing last year.In January 2025, partial human remains were found in a wooded area near Aurum Rd.and 17 St. Due to deep snow and harsh winter conditions, a full search of the area was postponed until spring.A forensic examination was completed on Jan. 20, but the cause and manner of death remain undetermined. In April, a match from the National DNA Data Bank confirmed the remains belonged to Teanna Lacoursiere, who was reported missing in April 2024.Lacoursiere was described as 5-ft. 1-in., 120 lbs., with blue eyes and brown hair, though she was known to change her hair colour. She had a distinctive tattoo across her chest and was also known by the name “Mistey.”Throughout April and May, the Edmonton Police Service Missing Persons Unit conducted multiple searches of the area, and on May 26, a full grid search was completed with the help of Search and Rescue Alberta.“The search area was large and forested, which made this particularly complex,” said Staff Sergeant Kevin Harrison of the EPS Historical Crimes Section. “Investigators planned to complete a full grid search prior to issuing a public notification in hopes of gathering important evidence that would advance the investigation. With that grid search complete, we are now appealing to the public for any information that might help shed some light on how Teanna’s remains ended up in this location, as we believe the circumstances to be suspicious.”Anyone with information about Teanna Lacoursiere, her associates, or her activities before her death is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
