Maverick Party interim leader Jay Hill has announced the first three candidates who will run under the party’s banner in the next federal election..“After launching the Maverick Party in September 2020, we’re not surprised with the response we’ve received from Western Canadians in just six months,” Hill said in a Wednesday statement..“The frustration and litany of valid concerns can no longer be swept under the rug – Western Canadians are acknowledging the imbalance and successive government’s bias against the West..“Although Canada’s fixed election date isn’t for another two years, Mr. (Justin) Trudeau is determined to call an election, hoping the missteps of the Conservative Party will result in a four-year majority government mandate. Maverick Party must be ready with strong, credible candidates, ready to run and win in the federal election.”.Hill said EDA (Electoral District Association) Board of Directors did comprehensive background reviews and interviews with candidates Dave Jeffers, Mark Wilcox, and Dave Robinson.Jeffers, is a husband and father of two daughters living in Fort St John, BC. He is running in Hill’s former riding of Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies..Carstairs resident Wilcox works as an airline captain.
