By Deirdre Mitchell-MacLean.Rebel reporters Shelia Gunn-Reid and Keean Bexte were physically and verbally assaulted by protesters at the United Conservative’s Party convention on Saturday..Police said 600 people with signs and a few AUPE flags gathered at the Westin Calgary Airport to protest job cuts planned by the Jason Kenney government that would see more than 6,400 people lose their jobs. .Gunn-Reid and Bexte said they approached the group after NDP Edmonton-Glenora MLA Sarah Hoffman had given a speech..“We were handing out copies of (Stop Notley booklet) – trying to teach them about freedom and six credit downgrades,” said Gunn-Reid..“We had given out about three of them when someone pushed a book into (Bexte’s) throat,” she said pointing out a bright red line across his throat..After that, Bexte started to film the group and captured Gunn-Reid being shoved from behind by a man with a sign. . Frame grab courtesy Rebel Media. .“It was over in less than five minutes,” Bexte said..Protesters have been kept to a boundary outside of the parking area and security monitors all doors and verifies identification via convention badges. .“(The protesters) are not interested in having a dialogue,” Bexte said..“Violence is option number one for them.”.Ezra Levant, Rebel Media’s founder, offered a $1,000 reward for information identifying the person who shoved Gunn-Reid. Another individual offered to double the reward for a successful identification. .“As God as my witness, we will go after him with the full force of the law”, Levant wrote on Twitter. .Gunn-Reid has contacted local police and will be making a formal complaint against the individual.
