Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has fired back against the Saskatchewan premier who blasted him for having “no willingness” to work on a list of the province’s grievances..Scott Moe said all he heard from Trudeau was “more of the same” after bringing up things like the federal carbon tax and Equalization payment in a Tuesday meeting..But the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement describing a meeting they say disproves Moe’s remarks..“The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work collaboratively with the provincial government on behalf of the premier of Saskatchewan,” said a statement from the PMO..Trudeau reaffirmed his desire to get the TMX built, telling Moe more there are currently 2,200 construction workers on the sites near Edmonton and Burnaby, B.C..In terms of the controversial Equalization program, Trudeau said he invited Moe to submit ideas and work with his fellow premiers to help improve the program..It was in stark contrast with what Moe told reporters..“We have a prime minister that on election night said he understood those frustrations and he wanted to support the people in the province of Saskatchewan. I came today to hear what he was going to do differently to support the industries and the people of our province and I can tell you this, I did not here there is going to be anything different I heard more of the same,” Moe said..Moe was asked if he thought the fruitless meeting would fan the flames of Western independence..“The Prime Minister needs to answer the question as to how he is going to ensure that he not only understands the frustrations in the province of Saskatchewan but how he is going to support them. I came with real opportunities for us to engage. Opportunities that I was hoping to work with the prime minister and the new federal administration… I did not hear a willingness to work on those priorities,” he said.
