Western Standard AI Guidelines

AI is a new and evolving technology. These guidelines will be updated and publicly disclosed as any changes are made.

• All claims made by AI in the production of a story must be fact-checked by a reporter or columnist and overseen by a senior editor.
• All stories using AI will have a reporter or columnist directly responsible for their content.
• Stories using AI will not be published under false or fictitious names.
• Use of AI by a reporter or columnist must be disclosed to their editor.
• AI will not be used to generate artificial images or videos of real people out of context or that give a false or misleading impression of facts or events.
