The City of Edmonton said the City Hall Parkade will reopen on Friday to accommodate downtown visitors for the holiday season. New security measures will change how people enter and exit Edmonton City Hall from the City Hall Parkade, and signage has been added to help guide them, according to a Monday press release. The City of Edmonton confirmed the City Hall Parkade is open to the public Monday to Sunday from 7:45 a.m. to midnight. It noted overhead parkade doors will open to vehicles on the ramp starting at 7:45 a.m.Edmonton City Hall is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To access it from the parkade, people can use the elevators on parking levels P1 and P3. Between 6 p.m. to midnight, the City of Edmonton said the parkade can be accessed through the street-level pedestrian door on the southeast side of Edmonton City Hall. It said there is no public access to the parkade between midnight to 7:45 a.m.There is no access to the parkade from the Churchill LRT Station pedway. Parkade users must exit it to access the pedway.It said parkade rates are Monday to Friday $5 per hour, $20 per day maximum from 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, it said it has a $15 evening maximum from 6 p.m. to midnight.Saturday and Sunday will go for $2 per hour, $10 per day maximum from 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. A $10 evening maximum will last from 6 p.m. to midnight.It noted event night parking rates are in effect when there is a major event at Rogers Place. For more information about the parking rates during these events, it said people should visit edmonton.ca/EPark.Parkade users can pay for parking via the Hotspot Parking app or website or the EPark pay machines. EPark machines are available on P1 and P3 near the public elevators and on P3 near the LRT pedway access.The City of Edmonton concluded by saying accessible parking stalls are available on P1 and P3. Also, it said parkade users can access the P1 and P3 elevators from P2 and P4.This ordeal comes after Edmonton city council decided in July to pause the rollout of its new Residential Parking Program (RPP) and go back to the original form that was in effect until May. .City of Edmonton to revert back to old residential parking initiative .This means the 19 participating neighbourhoods will continue to be part of the RPP with their existing hours and temporary/visitor permitting requirements. “There remains the need to update the residential parking plan as one of several actions under the Curbside Management Strategy to effectively manage curbside use,” said City of Edmonton Director of Traffic Operations Shewkar Ibrahim.
