Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from the Southern Alberta General Investigation Section, has successfully apprehended two repeat offenders, who now face a combined total of 27 criminal charges.
The arrests follow a series of serious crimes, including armed robbery, vehicle theft, and assaults on police officers, committed just days after their release in December 2024.
The first suspect, Malik Holloway, 26, of Stoney Nakoda First Nation, was apprehended in Calgary after a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle. Holloway had dangerously fled from officers before being tracked to a residence. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the RCMP and Calgary Police Service, he was arrested without incident.
The second suspect, Koda Crane-Dixon, 28, also of Stoney Nakoda First Nation, was captured after a break-and-enter incident in Canmore. Crane-Dixon fled from officers in a stolen vehicle and later on foot. He deployed bear spray at an officer before being subdued with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services. The officer was unharmed during the incident.
Both investigations led to the recovery of a stolen shotgun and four stolen vehicles, showcasing the RCMP’s commitment to addressing repeat offenders.
Holloway faces charges including robbery with a firearm, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and multiple counts of uttering threats and breaching probation orders.
Crane-Dixon is charged with offences including robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, assault on a police officer, theft, and unauthorized possession of firearms.
Inspector Dave Brunner of the Cochrane RCMP emphasized the importance of proactive enforcement, stating, “We not only patrol the streets but also patrol the patterns. We are here to identify, monitor, arrest, and break the cycle of prolific offenders.”
Both individuals remain in custody as they await court appearances. The RCMP continues to collaborate with regional partners to ensure public safety and address criminal activity effectively.
