BC Premier John Horgan had choice words for his counterpart to the east Wednesday, calling new Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s comments about vaccine-related discrimination “laughable.”.On Tuesday, Smith said people unvaccinated against COVID-19 are “the most discriminated against group that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime.”.Following a social media whirlwind of both applause and condemnation, Smith “clarified” her comments the following day, reiterating she did not intend to trivialize discrimination faced by “minority communities and other persecuted groups,” but rather sought to highlight mistreatment towards those not twice-injected as a result of government-imposed mandates..In an interview with CFAX Radio in Victoria Wednesday, Horgan called Smith’s sentiment about unvaccinated individuals “laughable," suggesting it was so bad he couldn't even respond. Nonetheless, he responded..“We collectively, not just British Columbians and Canadians, but the global community, have just gone through an unprecedented time, going back to Spanish influenza, and on top of that, we have a toxic drug supply that is killing our brothers and sisters, our friends and our neighbours,” Horgan told CFAX..“To focus on the sliver of the population who chose not to get vaccinated when there are all these other challenges seems short-sighted to me. I just disagree with her.”.Horgan’s remarks come as little surprise to British Columbians, as to agree with Smith would mean condemning his own government’s heavily enforced policies..He’s also not the only BC premier to have dished out scornful words for Smith. The province’s former premier, Christy Clark, called Smith’s proposed Alberta Sovereignty Act “batsh-t crazy” in August while speaking in Edmonton, and that same week former Alberta Premier Jason Kenny said Smith was turning Alberta into a "laughing stock.".READ MORE: Former BC premier calls Smith's proposed Alberta Sovereignty Act 'batsh-t crazy'
