The Alberta government and Calgary Police Service (CPS) on Monday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. issued a "dangerous person alert" related to a double homicide on Sunday night.

The City of Calgary and surrounding area is now on alert, with police warning of “a dangerous man armed with a firearm in the areas of Northwest Calgary and Bearspaw.”

The victims were a 70-year-old man and his daughter, who according to police are believed to have been in two separate locations.

The CPS homicide is investigating the double homicide and searching for the suspect. Police were called at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday night to the 0 to 100 block of Kincora Grove N.W. “for reports of a person in medical distress.”

When police arrived, they found a man dead. He was in his 70s, said CPS.

“As officers continued to investigate, a second victim, who is believed to be the deceased man’s daughter, a woman in her 30s, was located deceased in the 300 block of Tuscany Ridge Heights N.W.,” at approximately 11:15 p.m. the same night.

CPS say “both deaths are believed to be targeted and domestic in nature.”

The suspect is 38-year-old Benedict Kaminsky, a 6 ft. white male with brown and gray hair, last seen wearing a grey, red and white shirt.

Police say he drives a 2022, black Nissan Pathfinder with Alberta plate: CLN5276.

"Do not open the door to strangers," warned CPS, requesting sightings to be reported to 911.

CPS advised to follow their social media for updates. The father-daughter autopsies are scheduled for January 3, 2025.
