President Donald Trump wasted no time rolling back multiple Biden policies as he signed several executive orders that reshaped U.S. government policies on gender, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
The new orders were signed after his swearing-in as the forty-seventh U.S. president.
Among the measures revoked was a Biden directive designed to prevent discrimination based on gender identity.
Trump also signed an order stating there are only two genders, male and female, and declared that they cannot be changed.
During his inaugural address, Trump said, “It will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.”
One order ends DEI programs across federal agencies.
It ends the funding for DEI initiatives and mandates a review of any office name changes made under such programs.
Trump promised to cut what he called “radical practices” about gender and race.
Major corporations, including McDonald’s, Walmart, and Meta (Facebook, Instagram) have already scaled back or eliminated DEI programs.
Others like Apple, Target, and Costco defended their DEI programs.
