U.S. rabbi slams Canada for Jew-hatred inaction after second Montreal synagog firebombing

He also called-out Christian church burnings

A U.S.-based rabbi concerned with civil rights is calling-out all levels of Canadian government and law enforcement for unchecked Jew-hatred in the wake of Wednesday's second firebombing of a Montreal synagogue.

"This is a prescription for disaster," said Abraham Cooper, director of Global Social Action Agenda at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in a conversation with the Western Standard.

"And by the way, as we know, history has taught us that often this starts with the Jews and never ends with the Jews. When you have democracies that are essentially allowing Jews to be treated differently, Jewish taxpayers, citizens, freedom of religion, when you don't step forward (it is unwise)."

Cooper also called-out Christian church burnings in Canada.

He said the problem of Jew-hatred in Canada should now be investigated as domestic terrorism with potential connections to offshore terrorist entities. CSIS should be involved, he said, noting there have been extremely serious incidents of violence against Jews around the western world.

"The idea that Jews have to look over their shoulders while walking down the street in democracies that allow them to develop great communities, is not acceptable."

The solution, said Cooper, will come from a consortium of elected officials, faith leaders and (social media) influencers.

"Even if you don't believe in God, we should be working hard to make sure that people who do feel comfortable going to and from their houses of worship."
