WATCH: Near miss at Chicago airport

Christopher Oldcorn

A Southwest Airlines flight narrowly avoided a collision with a private jet at Chicago Midway International Airport on Tuesday.

Flight 2504 was forced to perform a go-around when crew members spotted another aircraft on the runway during their landing approach.

The Southwest pilots executed safety procedures immediately, preventing what could have been a serious incident.

All passengers arrived safely after the close call, which will trigger a review of airport procedures.

If the air traffic controller's tape is any indication, it was the smaller jet's blunder.
