Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is under fire this week for its shameless and unabashed spending promoting DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) abroad.
Canadian netizens, having combed through the long list of causes the federal agency has deemed worthy of millions — or even billions — of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars, are outraged at the brazen waste and posting their dissatisfaction online.
The GAC spending is from 2017 to 2023, all under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government. The approximate total in the seeming inexhaustible database is about $52 billion. All funds are sent out of Canada to support ideological advancements in other countries from Europe to Asia to Africa.
The backlash comes as President Donald Trump and the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), led by tech billionaire Elon Musk, exposed the USAID (United States Agency for International Development) for frittering away billions to needless programs internationally.
USAID was all but abolished when Trump and Musk looked under the hood, with nearly all employees, save a couple hundred, unceremoniously laid off.
Social media has been ablaze all week with Canadians posting about flagrant abuse of federal funds through Global Affairs Canada. On Thursday, the agency reported it was "experiencing technical difficulties," strumming up yet another wave of outraged mocking.
The interruption was short lived, as the site appeared to be up and running again within a few hours. Some were able to access GAC's content regardless of the shut down through back channels on the internet, which continued to be widely shared.
The categories almost exclusively cover woke, DEI concepts, including sexuality, gender, racism and sustainability, or leftists propaganda topics like abortion, climate and vaccines.
Other funding includes giving millions to global entities like the United Nations and the World Health Organization, and even on entertainment like parties and plays.
Some of the highlights include:
$900 million to the UN
$10 million for UK abortions
$186 million for “women’s promotion”
$44 million to Luxembourg climate programs
$7.2 million to the Philippines for “gender-responsive" healthcare
$25 million for lesbians and trans people in Kenya
$20 million on toilets for Ghana, $850,000 on poster campaign instructing people not to defecate on the beach
$1 billion to the Taliban for "gender equity"
$10 billion to Asia for climate change initiatives
