UPDATE:
Theodore Lim has been located by the Vancouver Police Department and is "safe."
The VPD added that, "officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances around today's incident."
The original story is as follows:
An Amber Alert has been issued in Vancouver after a father abducted his son, who he had previously lost custody of.
Vancouver police say the tot could be in "imminent danger."
Davis Lim was last seen shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at 2780 East Broadway, the same location as West Coast Child Care Resource Centre.
According to the Amber Alert, Lim and 2-year-old Theodore are possibly travelling in a blue 2006 Volkswagen Jetta with BC license plate 325 VCH.
Lim has been described as 5-ft., 9-ins., with black hair. He was wearing a green t-shirt and black pants. Theodore, 2 feet tall, was wearing all gray and on a ventilator at the time. He suffers from myriad health issues, including an array of vertebral, kidney, anal, cardiovascular, and esophageal anomalies.
In 2023, the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development removed custody from the Lim and his wife and limited him to seeing his son at BC Children's Hospital two times per week with an appointed supervisor.
Lim, a former medic in the Canadian Armed Forces, took a more naturopathic stance on health, and was not happy with the care his son was being given in hospital.
In October 2024, a court reaffirmed the ministry's custody of Theodore, officially removing his parents as his legal guardians.
Lim vowed to appeal the decision.
