An earthquake has rattled southwestern British Columbia.
According to Earthquakes Canada, a magnitude 5.1 quake was detected 27km north of Sechelt around 1:26 p.m. on Friday.
It has an estimated depth of 1km.
Residents from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the Lower Mainland took to X claiming that the tremors lasted up to 30 seconds.
"We have received no reports of damage at this time," the agency said.
"So far, we have no reports of calls, damage or injuries related to the recent minor earthquake," Vancouver Fire Rescue Services said in a post on X. "We are staying on top of calls and monitoring. A real time reminder of the importance of earthquake preparedness and readiness for everyone in Vancouver."
