A shooting at a Christian school in Wisconson has left two people dead and the teenage female shooter committing suicide.

The incident happened at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.

Police Chief Shon Barnes said officials were alerted to the incident at 10:57 a.m. Ironically the department had been undergoing training for an "active shooter" only two weeks ago.

"[They are trained] to stop the killing, stop the dying," said Barnes.

He said police officers from across the state rushed to the school.

They found three people dead — the youth shooter and two others. One of the victims was a teacher, the other a student. Another seven people wounded were rushed to hospital.

The school has students from kindergarten through Grade 12.

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson said on X: "My sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School. I will continue to closely monitor the situation.'"
