Multiple pedestrians have been struck by a vehicle in Toronto in what police have said may be a "targeted attack."
The driver remains at large.
According to the Toronto Police Service, the incident took place shortly before 2 p.m. EST on the Toronto Metropolitan University campus near Gerrard St. East and Yonge St. The driver fled the scene, and has not yet been located.
Four people have been reported injured, with two transported to a nearby hospital.
The vehicle has been described as a dark green sedan with a cracked windshield, license plate DEDZ 565. It was last seen travelling eastbound on Gould St. towards Church St.
"At this time, it appears the vehicle may have intentionally targeted one individual," the TPS added.
TMU released a statement urging people to avoid the area of Nelson Mandela Walk between Gerrard St. and Gould St. to give first responders room to work. The university added that there was "no impact on classes, labs, or exams at this time."
This is not the first time pedestrians in Toronto have been hit by a driver. On April 23, 2018, then-25-year-old Alek Minassian rammed his vehicle into a crowd of people on Yonge St., killing 11 and injuring 15.
For committing the deadliest vehicle ramming attack in Canadian history, the self-described incel was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
