Sonia Furstenau has stepped down as leader of the BC Greens.
The move comes on the heels of her party's successful negotiation of a cooperation and responsible government accord with the governing BC NDP.
"Serving as the Leader of the BC Green Party has been an honour and a privilege," Furstenau said. "I am proud of what the BC Greens have accomplished in the last seven years. We've demonstrated the value of a third party in the BC Legislature that is focused on finding solutions and working across party lines."
She emphasized that, "collaboration and cooperation are more important than ever in our increasingly partisan political landscape."
Furstenau's permanent replacement has not been announced, however she said the party was "in strong hands." In the meantime, Jeremy Valeriote will serve as interim leader.
