Donald Trump has moved to create a 30,000 bed facility at Guantanamo Bay where he can send the "worst" illegal immigrants.

The president said he would be signing an executive order later Wednesday, and directing the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security to start preparing.

"Most people don't even know about it," Trump said of the facility. "We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people. Some of them are so bad we don't even trust the countries to hold them, because we don't want them coming back, so we're gonna send them out to Guantanamo."

He noted that the move would "double" the United States' capacity to detain and hold such people, calling Guantanamo, Cuba, a "tough place to get out of."

"Today's signings bring us one step closer to eradicating the scourge of migrant crime in our communities once and for all," Trump added, calling the situation the United States finds itself in evidence of an "unforced error."
