An earthquake has struck off the coast of northeastern Vancouver Island, the second to hit British Columbia in four days.

The Magnitude 5.2 quake was recorded 212 km west of Port McNeil at 9:37 p.m. Monday night.

According to Emergency Info BC, the quake did not present a threat of triggering a tsunami.

Earthquakes Canada said the impact was "not felt," and that there were no reports of damage.

It came just three days after a Magnitude 5.1 quake rattled southwestern BC. In that case, the epicentre was 27 km north of Sechelt.

Residents from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the Lower Mainland took to X claiming that the tremors lasted up to 30 seconds.
