A late-night commercial alarm in Champion took a dramatic turn when Vulcan RCMP discovered two fire trucks had been stolen from the local fire hall and were being driven at high speed without emergency lights.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responding to the alarm spotted the Champion Fire Department vehicles speeding away.
Police attempted to stop the trucks, but both continued driving.
One suspect was arrested with help from RCMP Police Dog Services, while the second has been identified but remains at large.
Both stolen vehicles were later recovered.
Jaeden Glabb, a 25-year-old from Peace River, faces multiple charges including two counts each of break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.
He is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and three counts of breaching a release order.
Glabb was remanded into custody after appearing before a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday in Lethbridge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
