One person has been arrested in connection with an incident in Langley during which shots were fired.
Nobody was injured.
According to the Langley RCMP, officers were called to the 4400 block of 236 St. at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday to conduct a wellness check on a resident. While en route, they received numerous reports via 911 of gunshots heard in the same area.
Those in the surrounding homes were ordered to shelter in place, and an advisory was issued warning people to avoid the vicinity. RMCP officers entered the scene alongside colleagues from the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Integrated Police Dog Services, and managed to sort things out.
Less than two hours later, Sgt. Zynal Sharoom lifted the order.
"One person has been taken into police custody," he said, "and I can confirm that there is no on-going threat to the public."
No further details have been provided by law enforcement, however the Langley RCMP have been reached for comment.
