OOPSIES: Calgary cop accidentally fires his gun at police station

A Calgary Police Service (CPS) officer unintentionally fired a round from a service-issued pistol inside a district office Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the CPS District 2 office, located at 4506 17 Ave. S.W.

Authorities confirmed that no one was injured inside the building. However, the bullet exited through a second-story window, traveling south toward the District 2 parking lot and the Glendale community.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the area and made inquiries in Glendale to ensure there were no injuries or property damage. As of now, the bullet has not been recovered.

In accordance with CPS protocol, the General Investigations Unit responded to the scene to gather evidence, while the Professional Standards Section will review the incident to determine if policies were followed.

Police have not provided additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
