Parental rights activist charged over 2023 tractor collision in Surrey

Shoker was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight while pursued by a peace officer, and assaulting a police officer with a weapon.

A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection with a collision in Surrey last year.

Malkiat Singh Shoker, who also goes by "Bill," was driving down Highway 1 in his tractor en route to a protest against sexual orientation and gender identity in schools when he made contact with a police cruiser and flipped over.

According to the BC RCMP, Shoker was charged on December 9, 2024 with one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance, flighg while pursued by a peace officer, and assaulting a police officer with a weapon.

He is due back in Surrey Provincial Court on January 16, 2025.

The incident kicked off on November 25, 2023 along Highway 1 as Shoker and others made their way from Chilliwack to Vancouver to attend the protest. A police chase culminated in Shoker striking a cruiser on the 176th St. offramp and losing control of the vehicle.

Shoker sustained injuries during the collision and was taken to hospital. He was later arrested.
