A recall has been issued for eggs sold by Burnbrae Farms due to potential salmonella contamination.
Health Canada has urged everyone in BC, Manitoba, and the Thunder Bay region of Ontario to check their fridge to see whether their eggs are among those on the list, noting that other provinces may be affected as well.
Recalled brands include Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, No Name, and Western Family. A full list of expiration dates and UPCs of impacted products can be found HERE.
According to Health Canada, there have been "no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products" since the Canadian Food Inspection Agency first revealed the potential exposure.
The eggs in question originated at one of the company farms in Manitoba.
"Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick," Health Canada wrote in a statement. "Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis."
