SUV crashes into Salmon Arm medical clinic, one injured

Western Standard News Services

A medical clinic in Salmon Arm was left with significant damage after a red SUV crashed through its exterior wall on Thursday.

The collision occurred at 1:33 p.m. on Hudson Ave. N.E. Emergency responders, including the Salmon Arm RCMP, Salmon Arm Fire Department, and BC Emergency Health Services, arrived at the scene to find the vehicle had come to a stop against an interior wall after fully entering the clinic.

The 78-year-old female driver was determined to be sober and was not injured. However, a woman inside the clinic was struck by the vehicle and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities believe driver confusion was a key factor in the crash, but no criminal activity is suspected.

“There was potential for a lot more injuries, or worse, in this incident. We wish the one injured woman a full recovery,” said Cst. Andrew Hodges, media liaison for the Salmon Arm RCMP.
