THE GLOVES ARE OFF: Ontario PCs leak audio of Crombie hating on Brampton

Jen Hodgson

Premier Doug Ford’s Ontario Progressive Conservative party on Tuesday released leaked audio from Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie saying she doesn’t care about Brampton, ON.

“I don’t go to anything in Brampton. It’s not my city. I don’t care,” says Crombie in the video.

It is unclear when Crombie made the admission that she intentionally has nothing to do with Brampton, though Now Toronto reported it was sometime during her years as mayor of Mississauga, from December 2014 to January 2014.

“Bonnie loves Brampton,” a spokesperson from the Ontario Liberal party told the outlet.

Incidentally, Crombie was in Brampton on Tuesday for a campaign stop.

This isn’t the first hot mic of the week to hit the Ontario election race. Ford this week made the admission he 100% hoped President Donald Trump would win the US election.

The comments section of the Conservatives’ post widely express not an uproar over Crombie’s lack of decorum toward an Ontario city, but rather that the Liberal leader has every reason to feel that way.

“Never thought I'd have anything in common with Bonnie but here we are,” wrote one netizen.

“No one likes Brampton this isn’t a win,” said another.

I'm confused. Is this an attack ad or make her more likable?” chimed in a third.

“I lived in my Brampton my entire life. The city I grew up in is gone. I don’t care about Brampton either. It’s no one’s city,” said someone else.

“Bonnie just said out loud what everyone is already saying and thinking. Kudos to her for being honest. She just needs to have the courage to say it publicly,” added someone else.

Ford and Crombie, along with NDP leader Marit Stiles and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner are campaigning for a snap provincial election, set for February 27.
