A trio of Montreal men are facing multiple charges after Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers arrested them in connection with a series of high-end vehicle thefts targeting Lexus and Toyota models.
According to a release issued Tuesday, the EPS Targeted Response to Auto-theft Prevention (TRAP) teams have been investigating a string of sophisticated thefts involving more than 20 stolen trucks and SUVs since the beginning of 2025.
To date, police have recovered five of the vehicles.
Investigators believe the suspects used advanced electronic tools to steal the vehicles, which were then shipped overseas for profit.
On April 16, TRAP officers apprehended the suspects after they were seen moving a stolen Lexus into a west Edmonton storage locker.
Yaya Oussalah, 18, Corry Bush, 21, and Fahim Fils Aime, 21, all from Montreal, are now facing a variety of charges, including multiple counts of motor vehicle theft and possession of electronic devices used in such crimes.
Additional charges include fraud, uttering forged documents, personation, obstruction, and breaches of release conditions.
Acting Staff Sgt. Ian Strom urged drivers to take extra steps to safeguard their vehicles.
“We would like to remind the owners of newer Lexus and Toyota SUVs and newer Toyota trucks to take extra precautions securing their vehicles inside a garage when possible,” he said.
“We also recommend the use of an aftermarket ignition kill switch and a steering wheel club.”
The TRAP unit, part of the EPS, is a dedicated team focused on reducing auto theft and related crimes to improve public safety across Edmonton.
