Tomorrow's the day! Jagmeet Singh has officially qualified for his pension.

After years of propping up Justin Trudeau and the Liberals, the NDP leader had a change of heart when it became clear he could vote against the governing party and still secure a hefty paycheque when he turns 65.

The Western Standard set up countdown clocks so the public could keep track of exactly how long it would be until Singh qualified.

The Conservative Party also created their own clock.

"Sellout Jagmeet Singh said that Trudeau was 'too weak, too selfish and too beholden to corporate interests to fight for people'," an accompanying news release stated.

"Despite claiming he had ripped up his deal with the Liberals in September, he voted to prop them up eight times over the fall to keep Liberals in power until he gets his $2.3 million taxpayer-funded pension on February 25."

The party went on to claim that Singh "simply doesn’t care about the Canadians lined up at food banks or unable to find housing. All he cares about is Jagmeet."

According to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, if Singh takes his pension early and lives to the age of 90, he would receive $2.3 million.

Of the three major party leaders, Singh has the lowest pension, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre set to take home far more when their time in public service comes to and end.
