Truck strikes two overpasses on Hwy. 1, causing lane closure in Langley

Western Standard News Services

A semi carrying a large vertical load struck two overpasses on Hwy. 1 westbound Thursday morning, partially shutting down a lane and prompting an investigation by BC Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at 9:17 a.m. near Glover Rd.

According to initial reports, the truck hit both the 232 St. and 264 St. overpasses while hauling a shipment of pre-formed concrete.

While damage to the overpasses appears to be minimal, authorities noted that the company responsible for the load is known to police.

Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) officers have taken over the investigation, focusing on potential violations related to load height and permitting.

Drivers in the area should expect delays as officials continue their work to ensure the roadway is safe. Motorists are urged to slow down and move over for emergency personnel at the scene.
