Doug Forster named interim leader of Sask United Party

Doug Forster has been appointed interim leader of the Saskatchewan United Party, following Jon Hromek’s resignation at the end of 2024.

Although Forster lost in Yorkton last October to Saskatchewan Party candidate David Chan, he remains optimistic about Sask United’s future.

“Our first attempt at winning seats may not have produced the results we wanted, but we shifted the political landscape in Saskatchewan,” said Forster in a statement.

Forster stressed the “dedicated core remains intact” and a commitment to preparing for the 2028 provincial election.

Over the next four years, Forster plans to strengthen the party’s presence across Saskatchewan, insisting that “Saskatchewan deserves better.”

Forster views the 2028 election as a prime opportunity to show voters that Sask United can get their candidates elected to the legislature.

“We will continue to plant the Sask United message in the soil of this province,” said Forster.

“You can be assured this party is alive and well despite changes since the election.”

Forster sits on Yorkton’s Planning Commission, serves as a director at the Chamber of Commerce, and helps organize Rhythm and Ribs with the East Central Health Foundation.
