The Government of Saskatchewan, Regina Airport Authority, and United Airlines have unveiled a new daily direct flight connecting Regina and Denver, scheduled to commence in May 2025.

This announcement comes amid a surge in air arrivals from the U.S., which rose by 46% in 2023, further bolstering Saskatchewan’s economic ties with the U.S.

Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding emphasized the route’s potential to stimulate competitiveness and growth.

“The Regina-Denver connection will provide significant benefits for Saskatchewan’s business community and enhance access to the U.S. and beyond,” said Kaeding.

The new flight, operated by SkyWest Airlines under the United Express banner, is poised to serve both business and leisure travellers.

Regina Airport Authority CEO James Bogusz highlighted the strategic importance of the route, calling it a testament to United Airlines’ confidence in Saskatchewan’s future.

“This flight opens up new personal and professional travel opportunities with United’s extensive network via Denver,” Bogusz said.

SkyWest Airlines echoed this sentiment, with Managing Director Cody Thomas noting the seamless connectivity the route offers.

“From Regina, passengers can easily connect to hundreds of global destinations,” Thomas said.

The new route is expected to drive tourism and boost Regina’s position as a premier hosting destination in Canada, according to Sandra Jackle, President and CEO of the Regina Hotel Association.

“This connection makes it easier for international visitors to explore our city, filling hotels, and strengthening Regina’s economy,” Jackle said.

This expansion aligns with broader economic successes in Saskatchewan.

With exports exceeding $102 billion over the past two years—a record high—and 2023 real GDP reaching $77.9 billion, the province has shown robust growth.

Statistics Canada data places Saskatchewan second in Canada for GDP growth in 2023, well above the national average.

Private capital investment projections for 2024, expected to hit $14.2 billion, further underline the province’s upward trajectory.
