Regina Police Service (RPS) says a high-risk sex offender who disappeared last week is back behind bars.
RPS officers took Jason Paul Thorn, 48, into custody on Tuesday after issuing a public alert on April 16 that they could not find him.
RPS says Thorn was arrested for breaching the conditions of his statutory release, not for committing a new crime.
Thorn has been returned to “closed custody.”
Thorn, released on March 31, had been living at a supervised residence in the Heritage neighbourhood in Regina.
His conditions included regular check-ins meant to monitor his movements.
When officers failed to make contact last week, they warned residents that Thorn was unlawfully at large and posed a high risk to reoffend sexually, especially against female children.
RPS says the original safety advisory has been pulled now that Thorn is in “closed custody.”
