Sask RCMP lay 64 charges against three alleged bank robbers

In a major bust involving multiple communities across South and Central Saskatchewan, North Battleford RCMP’s Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS) has laid 64 charges against three individuals.

The arrests follow an extensive investigation into a November 22 bank robbery in Landis and a series of automated teller machine (ATM) thefts and attempted thefts across the region between late November and January 1.

According to the RCMP, officers from multiple front-line detachments, specialized police units, and Crime Stoppers collaborated to connect incidents reported in Dodsland, Rosetown, Gull Lake, Lemberg, Wolseley, Craven, Neilburg, Marshall, Battleford, Purdue, and on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, and Lean Man First Nation.

“Complex investigations like this involve extensive resources and large-scale coordination across multiple detachment areas,” said Sargent Adam Buckingham, Officer in Charge of the North Battleford Provincial GIS.

“The sheer number of crimes solved in this investigation really highlights the successful collaboration between support units of the RCMP and frontline officers.”

The coordinated efforts led police to a house in Biggar on February 5, where officers executed a search warrant and seized items believed to be connected to the Landis bank robbery and the ATM thefts.

Two suspects, Sheena Benoit, 36, (also known as Sheena Harrabek) and Joshua Meszaros, 33, were arrested at the scene.

A third suspect, Jeremy Seery, 48, of Rosetown, was apprehended a week later on February 12.

Benoit now faces 16 charges ranging from break and enter to theft and mischief.

Meszaros faces 24 charges, including multiple counts of break and enter, theft, and disguising with intent to commit an offence.

Seery also faces 24 charges, among them break and enter, robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent, and multiple theft and mischief counts.

All three accused are set to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court this spring. Meszaros and Benoit have court dates on April 7, while Seery’s next appearance is scheduled for April 14.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and urge anyone with additional information to contact their local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
