Government of Saskatchewan is making a significant spend in Saskatoon City Hospital (SCH) to address ongoing capacity pressures and improve patient care.
An additional $15 million is being spent this fiscal year to accelerate capital renovations, upgrade medical equipment, and expand acute care services at the facility.
This latest funding boost will add more than 100 acute care inpatient beds to SCH, enhancing its ability to meet growing healthcare demands. It builds on the $30 million already earmarked in the 2024-25 provincial budget to expand hospital capacity and improve emergency and acute care services.
“The work we do today will have a lasting impact on the provincial healthcare system,” said Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill.
“We are working closely with our healthcare partners to improve capacity and deliver more effective, efficient services. These efforts are ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring Saskatchewan hospitals have the resources to provide high-quality care to every patient.”
The Saskatchewan government has emphasized its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring patients receive timely and efficient treatment.
Additional funding announcements are expected in the upcoming provincial budget.
