What if we have it all wrong about coal? Although they are the cheapest and most reliable ways to generate electricity, over the last twenty years highly-efficient coal-fired generating plants have been shut down across Canada and the US. Why? Because along with the electricity they generate, they also emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and everybody 'knows' that this will ultimately result in catastrophic global warming.
Western Standard columnist Joseph Fournier, a Ph.D physicist with more than 12 years experience in the energy industry including some years on the oilsands at Fort McMurray, begs to differ.
Tonight he talks with Nigel Hannaford, about why coal is still a better option for power generation, notwithstanding the popular narrative against it.
Fournier has written for the Western Standard for nearly three years. He also publishes his work on Linkedin, where he has more than 14,000 followers, but from which he has occasionally been banned.
He talks about the difficulties of finding out why, and resuming publication.
Hannaford plays tonight at seven o'clock MT.
