Video has surfaced on X of a French Canadian construction worker wanting to join the U.S.

The video adds to a growing discussion about Canada and America forming an economic union. President-elect Donald Trump has said several times he wants Canada to become the fifty-first U.S. State. Some say he isn't joking.

"For a lot of us hard working Canadians it makes a whole lot of sense," said the man speaking from a snowy job site.

"And Mr. President-elect Donald Trump, we just have a single message for you, if it means that we could be framing in Florida or maybe Texas during the winter, I'm all in. We can build a lot of cool stuff, whatever the weather all year long."

"Overall Mr. President, we believe in freedom and the fear of God."

The sentiment among Canadians regarding Canada potentially joining the U.S. appears to be negative, with only a small minority expressing interest.

An Angus Reid poll in December reported only 6% of Canadians want to join the U.S. The sentiment was higher among conservative voters at 11%, compared to much lower support from Liberal and NDP voters at 1% each.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said this week Canada isn't interested in joining the U.S.
