Another daytime, targeted shooting left a man dead at a Maple Ridge residence Friday, and police are releasing his identity in hopes of further identifying witnesses and associates..Cory William Thomas, 33, was gunned down shortly before noon Friday at a home in the 11900-block of 216 Street in Maple Ridge..Ridge Meadows RCMP responded and found Thomas suffering gunshot wounds, but despite efforts from RCMP and BC Paramedics, he succumbed to his injuries..The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now investigating..IHIT says the shooting was most likely targeted and believes the incident is connected to the local drug trade, however investigators say they don’t believe it’s “associated to the ongoing gang conflict.”.“We are able to confirm this is an isolated incident,” said IHIT’s Sgt. David Lee..“We are speaking to witnesses and providing support and victim services to those affected.”.IHIT wants to speak with anyone who may have information on Thomas’ activities or CCTV footage around 216 Street, Lougheed Highway and Dewdney Trunk Road.
