This issue of adult sexual themes being forced on Canadians through communist–like retribution has taken another strange turn. The mayor Emo in Northern Ontario says he won't pay thousands of dollars in fines or submit to re–education for refusing to celebrate Pride Month back in 2020.Harold McQuaker, 76, who says he is being bullied, was fined $5000 for voting against displaying a Pride flag at Emo town hall. The town was fined $10,000. Also, McQuaker won't participate in mandatory LGBTQ training ordered to by the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC), reported the Toronto Sun."And, McQuaker, insisted he won’t cave to demands that he must host a Drag Time story hour in the local library, either," wrote the Sun."Canada may be a free country in some places. But not in Emo Township — 380 kilometres west of Thunder Bay on the Canada-U.S. border. In this township, defying LGBTQ demands can not only land you a stiff fine, but also an order to attend a re–education camp, too."McQuaker's story has made international headlines and is happening at the same time Ontario struggles to protect residents from repeat violent offenders, said the Sun. "But they can throw the book at a soon–to–be 77–year–old rural mayor of a tiny village," write the Sun.“I utterly refuse to pay the $5,000 because that’s extortion,” McQuaker told the Sun on Monday.Doug Judson, a lawyer in Fort Frances and board member of Borderland Pride, said he was happy the issue had been resolved by the OHRC."We didn't pursue this because of the money. We pursued this because we were treated in a discriminatory fashion by a municipal government, and municipalities have obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code not to discriminate in the provision of a service," he said."The tribunal's decision affirms that. That is the important thing we were seeking here was validation that as 2SLGBTQA plus people, we're entitled to treatment without discrimination when we try to seek services from our local government."
