Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre spent most of his time during an interview with Jordan Peterson talking about the lagging Canadian economy and the mounting challenges facing Canadian workers and businesses.
Poilievre told Peterson that Canadian workers receive roughly $15,000 in business investment compared to $28,000 for their American counterparts.
They earn just 55 cents for every dollar their American peers make.
The growing divide mainly affects trade workers in major urban centres like Vancouver, where many can no longer afford homes in the communities they help build.
Poilievre, who maintains an active schedule touring workplaces across the country while fulfilling parliamentary duties, emphasized the need to address these economic disparities.
A Poilievre government would streamline bureaucracy, reduce government spending, and implement policies to combat inflation.
"The Canadian promise of prosperity through hard work needs to be restored," said Poilievre.
The Conservative leader outlined specific measures to boost the economy, including incentives for municipalities to accelerate building permits and reforms to natural resource policies.
Poilievre pointed out that Canada continues to import oil despite possessing one of the largest oil reserves in the world while facing challenges in exporting natural gas.
The interview also addressed Trudeau’s immigration policy, with Poilievre advocating for better integration of newcomers while preserving Canadian values.
Despite current challenges, Poilievre expressed optimism about Canada's potential for economic recovery, provided political obstacles are removed.
