An American Christian artist will not perform at a historic Nova Scotia fort after Parks Canada cancelled the event permit late Tuesday night. Sean Feucht, a Christian artist linked to the MAGA movement, was scheduled for a concert tonight at the York Redoubt National Historic Site near Halifax.Parks Canada stated it revoked the organizer's permit because of "evolving safety and security considerations." The agency explained the decision followed a review of planned protests, advice from police, and concerns about managing crowds safely at the old fort site. York Redoubt was built in 1793 to guard Halifax Harbour."After careful review, and due to heightened public safety concerns, Parks Canada has notified the organizer that the permit has been revoked," the agency said in a statement issued just after 11 pm AT. .Residents push Parks Canada to cancel MAGA supporting Christian artist’s concert.Parks Canada stressed the event was not its own, but was being run by a permit holder.Residents living near the historic site and across the province had voiced strong objections to the concert. They argued Feucht's appearance contradicted Parks Canada's core principles of inclusion and safety for all visitors. “You mean the same place where a pride parade was last week they don’t want Christians praying this week?” Feucht posted to Twitter/X.“Now that doesn’t sound very tolerant Canada. 🤔”Some residents planned to protest the event..HANNAFORD: Canada shall be saved? Sorry Sean, you might be a bit late.Feucht, who ran unsuccessfully for the US Congress as a Republican in 2020, is also a missionary and author. On his website, he has publicly criticized the 2SLGBTQ+ community, abortion rights, and critical race theory. He promotes basing US government policy on traditional Christian values, calling it a "spiritual war." His website urges young people to oppose the "progressive agenda being forced upon America."Reacting to the permit cancellation, Feucht shared a CBC News article about the situation on his Facebook page. .He added the caption, "We will all get to witness if free speech and freedom of religion still exist in Canada.".Despite the setback at the national historic site, Feucht's concert will happen. Feucht posted a video to his Twitter/X account pointing out that there is a double standard when it comes to tolerance in Canada and other countries..Organizers announced this morning that the show found a "new location that's even better than the old one." .The free performance is now set for 338 Crombe Rd. in Shubenacadie, NS, roughly 60 kilometres north of Halifax. This address is connected to a religious group named Lighthouse Ministries. This Nova Scotia show marks the beginning of Feucht's "Revive in 25" summer tour across Canada. He is also scheduled to perform in Charlottetown, PEI, and Moncton, NB, on Thursday. The tour continues to other Canadian locations in the coming weeks.
