Ah Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was at it again on Tuesday. This time in Vancouver. I knew Vancouver when it was a beautiful city – the San Francisco of the North. It still is – but have you seen San Francisco lately? Drugs, overdoses and people defecating on the street. After refusing to go to a fundraising event because a crowd of protesters was allegedly using racial slurs, Trudeau talked some B.S. at an ad hoc news conference that revealed absolutely nothing except how vacuous our prime minister is..He had a question about the recent national security report that this columnist wrote about on Tuesday – that hodgepodge of idiocy designed to stoke fears of an imminent right-wing extremist revolution as if we were living in the German Weimar Republic of 1932. But Trudeau’s comments confirmed by suspicions that the report reflects his inconsistent and incomprehensible thinking and is really just a defacto government report written by people outside the government who are really fellow travelers with this Trudeau regime..“There is no question that the world is changing rapidly and getting more dangerous in new ways than ever before,” said Trudeau..“When we look at the prevalence of misinformation and disinformation, the way social media has been weaponized both by foreign actors and people within Canada pushing extremist views.”.The prime minister didn’t miss a chance to lecture the media about the “extremist ideology and right wing terrorism,” while getting into a lather about “the illegal protests we saw in the winter.”.Would that be the Freedom Convoy, Comrade? These are the only kind of protests that Trudeau has objected to. He got on his knees for Black Lives Matter and dismissed their rampage through urban America during the summer of 2020 with his usual effervescent arrogance..Yes, the Freedom Convoy that Trudeau used the Emergencies Act to squash even though not a single police force requested it and the border had already been cleared of protesters before he invoked it..Then the prime minister reached for his arsenal of ebullient hypocrisy as he suggested he is working hard to keep Canadians free although there hasn’t been a single day’s evidence of that since he came to power..Trudeau ominously said his government is working with security agencies to find news ways to deal with this blight of right-wing extremism and no doubt the white supremacy and racism that he believes pervades all of Canadian society. Perhaps he will ban blackface routines? But that wouldn’t give him much to do with his free time when he entertains his friends of camping trips or delights partygoers with his hijinks..Trudeau promised that he will keep Canada secure as he “defends” freedom of speech, expression, and lawful protest — all while “keeping Canadians safe.”.Do you feel any safer under Trudeau or do you have the terrible feeling that you might have your bank account frozen, your cryptocurrency liquidated or your taxes audited if you speak too loudly or forcefully against his security conscious regime..Trudeau has absolutely no interest in defending freedom of speech; he wants to censor it on the internet. What exactly is the “disinformation” that Trudeau is so concerned about. Well, it’s any information that Trudeau doesn’t agree with, just as “hate speech” is any speech that Trudeau hates..When Trudeau came onto the political scene he was an insouciant brat who thought he knew it all and seemed to have only one political objective: the legalization of marijuana. In retrospect, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea now, given that we’ve had to live with his man’s restless narcissism for over six years now..But a bolder, more sinister Trudeau has emerged over the last few years and it is one who wants to not wage a cultural war with Canadians but leave no survivors. Trudeau is a clear and present threat to our basic freedoms in Canada because he frankly doesn’t believe we should possess them..What is most alarming is the scant lack of a free press in Canada. If you view the media of totalitarian countries, what strikes you most of all is how homogenized it was and is. In Stalinist Russia there was only one version of the news: what the state told you was true. So millions could be dying of an artificial famine in Ukraine and surrounding areas but you would never read that in morning Pravda. In Nazi Germany, the newspapers, radio and yes – the television – all repeated the propaganda produced so artfully from Dr. Joseph Goebbels: the minister of propaganda and popular enlightenment..Totalitarian regimes are always on guard against disinformation because it might be the truth..Canada doesn’t have a minister of propaganda yet but we do have several ministers who are moonlighting at the job, telling us what we should be watching and what we should not be watching..Trudeau doesn’t give a damn about your security, your free speech, your freedom of assembly or a free press: he’s bought off most of the media already and would love to find ways to shut the rest..But now, more than ever, a free press is required and a strong political opposition is needed because Trudeau can do a lot more damage in three years and if this Liberal-NDP alliance holds up, he will be virtually unrestrained.
