’Some 10 people dead’ in Swedish school shooting

“Some 10 people dead” in a shooting at a Swedish adult education centre in Örebro, police confirmed. 

Police called it one of the deadliest attacks in recent memory. 

Authorities stated the suspected shooter is among the dead and ruled out further threats, though a terror motive remains unconfirmed.  

The attack occurred at Campus Risbergska, a school serving adults, immigrants, and people with disabilities.

"About ten people have been killed in the incident,” said the Swedish police website.

"We are currently working on identification. The total number of injured is currently unclear."

Regional officials said six people were hospitalized, including one in critical condition. 

“The danger is not over,” police initially warned, but later assured the public no additional attacks were expected.

Witnesses described hearing gunshots and screams, with students barricading inside classrooms during the chaos.  

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called it a “very painful day for all of Sweden,” while Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer pledged ongoing support for the investigation.
