A transgender woman appeared in a UK court accused of sexually assaulting two children, with charges stating the alleged crimes involved a “penis.”
Maddison Wilson, 37, of Portsmouth, Hants, attended Southampton Magistrates Court to face charges including rape of a girl under 13 and sexual assault of a boy under 13.
Court documents allege Wilson attacked the girl “with your penis” in Hull in 2011.
A second charge claims Wilson sexually assaulted a boy between 2017 and 2020 in Southampton.
Wilson, who identifies as female and uses she/her pronouns, confirmed the pronouns in court but did not enter pleas.
The charges are different from Wilson’s legal identity as female with the “penis” reference in the rape allegation.
The accused wore a pink headband, black tracksuit, and white athletic shoes during the hearing.
Wilson faces additional charges of inciting sexual activity with both children.
The case was adjourned for a plea hearing later this month at Southampton Crown Court.
Authorities say the alleged crimes span 14 years.
Under U.K. law, rape is defined as non-consensual penetration with a penis, which informs the charge’s wording.
Author J.K. Rowling commented on social media.
“Man appears in court accused of raping and sexually assaulting two children. No, I don't respect his fucking 'identity,’” tweeted J.K. Rowling.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
