LA wildfires continue burning out of control with over 150,000 people now evacuated.
The region is fighting several significant fires, exacerbated by dry conditions and fierce Santa Ana winds. More strong winds are forecasted — a red flag warning is in effect.
"Severe fire weather conditions will continue through Wednesday," said LA County Fire Department Chief Anthony Marrone.
"Please be assured that all fire departments and all law enforcement agencies in the area will be prepared."
The Palisades Fire, which started in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighbourhood, has grown to cover nearly 24,000 acres and is only 14% contained.
The Eaton Fire, in the northern part of Los Angeles, has destroyed over 10,600 acres and is 33% contained.
A new fire, the Auto Fire, has emerged with 0% containment. The fires have caused at least 25 deaths, and destroyed more than 12,000 structures.
The Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies are investigating possible arson causes for the fires, with a task force created to investigate the alleged incidents.
There's a noted increase in community vigilance, say reports, with citizens detaining suspects in some cases before law enforcement arrives.
"There's no fire season, it's fire year," said California Governor Gavin Newsom.
