US Department of Justice (DOJ) has released nearly 11 hours of prison video footage that supports its finding that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in 2019.Epstein was a convicted child sex offender held in New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center. He died in his cell on August 10, 2019. The newly released video comes from the common area of his prison unit the night before his death.A DOJ memo details the findings. It states FBI agents reviewed this footage extensively. The review confirmed nobody entered Epstein's cell tier between late evening and early morning. .“Anyone entering or attempting to enter the tier where Epstein’s cell was located from the SHU common area would have been captured by this footage,” said the memo.“The FBI’s independent review of this footage confirmed that from the time Epstein was locked in his cell at around 10:40 pm on August 9, 2019, until around 6:30 am the next morning, nobody entered any of the tiers in the SHU.”The FBI offered both a raw and an enhanced version of the video. Agents improved the footage's contrast, colour balance, and sharpness. The memo also addressed widespread rumours about Epstein. Agents examined over 300 gigabytes of data and physical evidence. .They found no proof Epstein kept an incriminating "client list." There was also no credible evidence he blackmailed prominent people. “This systematic review revealed no incriminating ‘client list.’ There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions,” said the memo. “We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.”This finding matches earlier results. .It agrees with the New York City medical examiner's autopsy. It also aligns with previous conclusions by federal prosecutors and the DOJ’s internal watchdog.Senior FBI officials had previously suggested the video would be clear. The newly released footage and memo now publicly support the suicide ruling. They dismiss theories about outside involvement or hidden lists connected to Epstein's crimes.
